Make New Friends But Keep the Old Ones…

6 Sep

This weekend we picked up where we left off with some dear friends. We met in college, but life and love swept Ben back to Michigan. Throw in a couple of marriages, a few road trips, and daughters all around and you have our friendship 12 years later.

They have become our only friends within driving distance that share some history with us. I’m glad that life has carried them here.

We showed them around our small town.

Sea wonders at the aquarium..

They brought the Spokane sunshine which allowed miraculous things to happen on our beaches.

Like swimsuits and sunsets that begged to be photographed.

When the fogged rolled in the following morning we knew Newport was showing off.

We discovered that ice cream tastes the same no matter what the weather may be.

And a trip to the lighthouse is even more of an adventure through a thick fog.

In between it all we laughed and caught up until all that had to be done was pack the car, make plans for the next time, and say goodbye.  Leaving us blanketed with contentment as the moon rested over a perfect weekend.

Hey- I’ve been on that beach, tackled by a sweet Newf, but I’ve been there! LOVE these pics! I am SOO happy for you!!! Find myself a bit jealous of the people that get the opportunity to see/talk to you everyday! :(, but I love them for it because I share!!!

You guys live in one of my favorite parts of Oregon. 🙂 I saw on the news today the rest of us in the Willamette Valley were in 95 degrees and you guys were at 65! It’s amazing the temperature difference. We should have headed to the coast today.

It’s been cool as a cucumber here, and foggy to boot! We’d love some of that heat. I guess the grass is always greener, huh?!
